Introducing Morning Musume’s 60th Single
Morning Musume’s 60th single was released. It is called “Tsumetai Kaze to Kataomoi / ENDLESS SKY / One and Only.” It was released on December 29th 2015. It sold 143,000 copies during its first week and also made it to the top of the Oricon Music charts! It was the last single for Riho Sayashi who graduated from the group on December 31, 2015. Morning Musume’s 60th single is the follow-up to the one called Oh My Wish! This is the group’s first single in 4 releases to reach the top of the charts in almost two years! The last time that this happened was when the single called “Toki wo Koe Sora wo Koe / Password is 0” was released in April 2014. With the release of the single, they have updated their own record of the total number of singles ranked in the top 10. The group’s first single to reach #1 on the Oricon charts was Daite HOLD ON ME! Analysis of Tsumetai Kaze to Kataomoi
The translation of the first song is “A Cold Wind & an Unrequited Love.” The song is about the challenges that a woman faces when her love is not returned. She hears the phone ring but she is unsure of what to talk about. Is she nervous? That is more than likely the case. It feels like every Morning Musume song has a certain story behind it. She is walking back home in this cold wind but she wants to be noticed by the person that she loves. This story doesn’t seem to have a happy ending but Tsumetai Kaze to Kataomoi has a good electronic sound to it. However, this video of the song is the Riho Sayashi solo version of it.
Analysis of “Endless Sky”
The next song in this single called Endless Sky lyrically is about human nature in the sense that everyone has something good and something bad about them. We think that we have the freedom to live as we please but we are tied down to these “rules of living.” The girl in this song realizes that the goal that she was after failed her because she was so arrogant. She wants to find love but she says that she is not in a rush to find it. Also, she says that she wonders what the feeling of love will be like and she feels that her heart is lonely. She is crying even though she knows that she should not cry because this is the path that she has chosen for herself. Life has lots of open doors for opportunities and it is up to us to seek those opportunities.
About One and Only
One and Only is the third and last song in this single. It has a sort of modern dance pop and techno feel to it. It is time to sing and smile as we listen to Morning Musume. It starts now as the song says. It starts from a place of love. This is one of the few times that I have heard Morning Musume sing one of their songs in English. Love is a very deep feeling, more than we will ever know. Out of the three songs One and Only and Tsumetai Kaze to Kataomoi are the best songs in this triple single.
