This article will now only cover the interesting life of singer Aya Matsuura. Aya Matsuura is a Japanese pop music singer & fashion model. This beautiful young lady was born on June 25, 1986 in the city of Himeji which is located in the Hyogo Prefecture in Japan.
Aya Matsuura’s Early Career (2000-2006)
Aya got her start in the music industry in Japan in the year 2000 when she took part in an audition that would later be known as the Hello! Project group. In addition to this, Aya has participated with the other group members in short projects such as Gomattou. This collaboration was done with Maki Goto and her best friend Miki Fujimoto. She was also involved in two other groups, one of them being Nochiura Natsumi which was done with Maki Goto and Natsumi Abe and DEF.DIVA which was done with Maki Goto, Natsumi Abe and Rika Ishikawa. Aya was also involved with Miki Fujimoto in a two person group called GAM which they formed in September 2006. They achieved success right away when the first single called Thanks reached the #2 spot on the Japanese music charts. However that success that Aya enjoyed would not come without hardships and setback.
Health Struggles
On October 9, 2006, Aya was supposed to perform in two concerts but both performances were cancelled because there were reports circulating around that she might be having Temporomandibular joint disorder. After the cancellation of both concerts, Aya’s management agency confirmed that she had been taking painkillers in order to continue doing her work.
The following day, Aya spoke at a press conference where she apologized to all of her fans and supporters and she promised them that she would get back to work as soon as possible.
Aya also has her own radio show called Matsuura Aya no All Night Nippon and since that press conference she has been singing but she has been singing far less than she used to. In March of 2008, Aya did a performance of the song called Kizuna and this was her 20th single. This 20th single officially was released in May of 2008. During the performance, Aya was a guest singer singing at the opening ceremony at the Fourth Special Olympics Japan National Winter Games. This event was before the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games that took place in Boise Idaho.
In addition to all of her released singles, Aya has released seven full-length albums and one greatest hits album. These albums are:
- First Kiss which was released in 2002
- T.W.O. which was released in January 2003
- X3 released in January 2004
- Matsuura Aya Best 1 released in March 2005
- Naked Songs released in November 2006
- Double Rainbow released in October 2007
- Omoi Afurete released in January of 2009 before her break from touring
- Click You Link Me released November 22, 2010
In August 2009, Aya started her own blog called AyaBlog and she made the announcement that this tour would be her last one for another two or three years. This move is understandable because the constant touring can be really exhausting. Everybody needs a break every once in a while to relax and reduce stress.
More Health Problems and Graduation from Hello! Project
Update: As of August 2011, it was revealed that Aya has a condition called endometriosis. As a result of this condition, it will make it so that she had to limit her concert and touring schedule in the future. This is such a huge disappointment for all of her fans as she has a wonderful voice and it is too bad that she can’t put that voice to good use. Aya graduated from the Hello! Project group on March 31, 2009. I hope that she can resume her touring activities in the future.
Interesting Facts About Aya Matsuura
When she is not involved with making music or acting, Aya really enjoys shopping. Her favorite colors are white, black, pink, and the color of the human tears. Aya enjoys eating rice, miso soup and any kind of fruit. She does not enjoy eating broccoli, cauliflower, celery sticks or parsley. Her favorite season of the year is autumn and her favorite word she enjoys using is love. This part is very interesting because Aya Matsuura has some of the loveliest looks to go with her soft-spoken and down to earth personality.
Marriage to Keita Tachibana and Children
In 2013, Matsuura married Keita Tachibana, the lead singer of the band called w-inds. She gave birth to a daughter on December 24, 2014 and then gave birth to another child on July 31st 2018. Matsuura and her husband had been dating for 12 years before they got married. On December 24, 2014, it was announced that Aya and her husband had become parents of a healthy baby girl. On September 16, 2017, the agency called UP-FRONT CREATE announced that her contract had expired on September 15th. It was also being reported at the time that Matsuura had plans on joining her husband’s agency RISINGPRODUCTION sometime in the future. On December 9, 2020, Matsuura gave birth to her 3rd child.
Aya Matsuura’s More Recent Work (2021-Present)
On February 19th 2021, the film Ano Koro was released. The film actually tells the story of a fan of Aya Matsuura whose life was changed by discovering her music. On January 27, 2022, she was the first guest on Matthew Minami’s podcast show called Matthew’s Matthew. It was broadcast through Amazon Audible. On the podcast, Matsuura discussed her children and her time as a Japanese idol. On April 14th of that year, she was also featured in a commercial for Nescafe Excella Coffee. This also marked the first time in 11 years that she had appeared in a commercial. On August 9, 2022, her husband announced plans to release a single called Addicted. He had written this song for her in 2017. It was expected to be released in November 2022.
