In September 2013, I wrote that the famous all-girl idol group Morning Musume celebrated their 16th anniversary as a group on my old website Asian Celebs Hut. And current member Oda Sakura was part of the celebrations. During that same month, Morning Musume had a tour. So who is Oda Sakura? What follows is a biography about Oda Sakura or Sakura Oda. Here is a look at the only 11^th generation member of Morning Musume. I have written member biographies for many of these Morning Musume members and you could say that Oda Sakura was still one of the newest members of the group as of 2019 even though she has been active as a member for 10 years. This biography will not cover the news about her hiatus but it will cover pretty much almost everything else about her career including her photo book releases.

Sakura was chosen to become a member out of more than 7,000 people who applied. Oda’s start in the entertainment industry begins in November 2011 when she was chosen as a member of the unit called Hello! Pro Egg. It would not be until September 14, 2012 on the group’s 15th anniversary that Oda Sakura would be announced as the winner of the Morning Musume 11th generation audition. Morning Musume on February 14, 2013 met and gathered at a release event for their photo book called Morning Musume Live Photo Book 2012 Fall: Colorful Character. Oda would start her duties as a member of Morning Musume in January 2013 during the group’s winter concert tour. Oda Sakura was born March 12, 1999 in Kanagawa, Japan and that makes her only a young 23 years old. She is definitely kawaii or cute in Japanese. It would be on May 23, 2013 that Oda would begin to host a solo web talk show that was accessible only to members of the fan club. This was called Sakura Sakuradio. Of course, Oda is much more than just a Japanese pop music singer. She has also done work as a stage actress and fashion model. It would be in June 2014 that she would star in her first theatrical production called LILIUM -Lilium Shoujo Junketsu Kageki. She played the role of the character Sylvatica. She also did a solo performance which was the opening act for the play. Less than a month later on July 5, 2014, Oda held a fan club event called Morning Musume 14 Oda Sakura Solo Event Sakura no Shirabe 3.5. Sakura challenged herself by singing more difficult songs outside of Hello! Project including a partial English cover of the song “Let It Go” from the animated Disney film Frozen.

On February 19, 2015, Sakura’s talk show came to a conclusion with a total of 90 episodes. On May 27, 2016, Sakura would release her first photo book called Sakura Moyou.

Two more photo book releases followed including Sakura Breeze in November 2017 and Sakura no Kisetsu on March 12, 2019, her 20^th birthday. Oda is still very young and has much potential to succeed not just as another Morning Musume member but she can perhaps rise to the level of group sub-leader one day. It would be on April 20, 2020 that she would release her 4^th solo photo book called SAKURA COLOR. However, in spite of all these successes, Oda would unfortunately suffer a health setback. On August 19, 2021, it was discovered through medical examination that she was diagnosed with functional dysphonia which was brought about due to stress. As a result, she would be forced to limit the rest of her vocal performances in the remaining Hello! Project 2021 Summer Sapphire & Ruby tour dates while having to undergo medical treatment. On November 8, 2022, she held a solo fanclub event called Morning Musume ’22 Oda Sakura Kanyuu 10 Shuunen Kinen FC Event ~Oda-chan to Yukai na Musume-tachi~ and as part of the event, there were two shows at Chiba Prefectural Cultural Hall.
