All About Aya Ishiguro

Of all the first generation members of the girl group Morning Musume, Aya Ishiguro is one of those members that I had not yet previously written about extensively and it’s about time right? Just like Asuka Fukuda, Ishiguro’s time spent in Morning Musume was not more than a few years at the most. Although Aya Ishiguro graduated from high school and was studying fashion design in college, she dropped out of college because she wanted to pursue a career in entertainment. Aya is part of the group’s famous first generation of members along with Yuko Nakazawa, Kaori Iida, Natsumi Abe, and of course, Asuka Fukuda who has recently made a transition into modeling in her mid-30’s which is quite remarkable actually.

But there is more to the career of Ishiguro as she has done so much more than just being a member of Morning Musume. Aya was also part of a Morning Musume sub-group called Tanpopo. However, on December 5, 1999 Ishiguro would announce her intention to graduate from Hello! Project, Tanpopo, and Morning Musume. The reason given for wanting to graduate is because the single LOVE Machine had become a major commercial success at that time and since Aya had achieved her dream of becoming a singer, she wanted to graduate and to focus on being a fashion designer. I think that Aya Ishiguro is one of those Morning Musume members that is unique because she has been involved in multiple careers other than the standard music to acting transition that most of these singers get involved in. Ishiguro would graduate in January 2000 and after that is when her career would take a rather interesting turn.

It would be after her graduation that Aya Ishiguro would concentrate on being a housewife and I know that this is a really odd way to take your career after having been part of a major pop music group. I still can’t believe it myself but in August 2003, Aya would make her return to public life. She published an essay about marriage, childbirth, and child care. In November 2004, she released a book called “Kosodate Project.” But who really is Aya Ishiguro?

Interesting Facts About Aya Ishiguro

• During her years spent in Morning Musume, she was given mostly harmony lines. This is due to her low singing voice.
• Contrary to what is believed, Ishiguro was not pregnant when she left Morning Musume. Aya officially resigned from Morning Musume in December 1999 with her last public performance being in January 2000. Aya Ishiguro however was pregnant when she married her then boyfriend Shinya Yamada.
• Aya Ishiguro has three children including daughters Rimu (born in November 2000), Sona (born in September 2002) and one son Youta who was born in August 2004.
• Aya Ishiguro had her nose pierced when she was in Morning Musume.
• Aya is the first former member of Morning Musume to get married.
• She would make her return to the stage in March 10, 2012 thus making it the first time she would do so in over 12 years.
• It was on November 3, 2017 that there would be a remake of Morning Musume’s demo single Ai No Tane (20^th Anniversary Version) and this was released digitally 20 years after the original. This remake was sung by Ishiguro and the four other original members and Morning Musume 17 as part of a special unit named Morning Musume 20^th.
